Learners and staff proudly took part in Hello Yellow Day to raise awareness of mental health and wellbeing as part of World Mental Health Day.
The school got a splash of yellow as learners and staff wore yellow accessories to show their support for positive mental health and to highlight the importance of talking about feelings.
Throughout the day, our learners took part in a range of activities designed to help them understand mental health and develop important life skills.
Classes explored mindfulness techniques, giving learners practical strategies to help them feel calm and focused. Learners also took part in lessons and discussions about mental health, learning that it is just as important to care for our minds as it is to care for our bodies.
A particular focus of the day was communication. Learners practised listening, expressing their thoughts and feelings and supporting one another. These valuable skills help children build positive relationships and know how to seek help when they need it.
The event formed part of the school's ongoing commitment to supporting the wellbeing of every learner and creating a caring environment where everyone feels valued, respected and able to thrive.
Headteacher, Ms Williams, said: “Hello Yellow Day was a fantastic opportunity for our learners to explore the importance of mental health in a positive and engaging way. The activities reminded everyone that it is okay to talk about how they are feeling. We are proud of the enthusiasm and kindness shown by our learners throughout the day.”
The school hopes that the lessons learnt during Hello Yellow Day will continue to support learners' wellbeing long after the yellow accessories have been put away.
