Value Based Education

At Carclaze we believe children should be taught values. Our school motto is Care, Communicate, Persevere and Sparkle so these are our core values. These are at the heart of all we do.
By using values we believe it creates a strong learning environment that enhances academic attainment, and develops students' social and relationship skills that last throughout their lives. The positive learning environment is achieved through the positive values modelled by staff throughout the school.

At Carclaze all staff have been trained in “Values based Education” and its approach. We have created as a staff a two year rolling programme based on the values we believe are essential for our children. The children were set the challenge to create characters to with the values so each animal has been designed by the children here at Carclaze School.

Each half term we start with an assembly to introduce the value, PSHE lessons follow that value and the corresponding British Value and then each week in celebration assembly children earn certificates for demonstrating that value.

This is the two year rolling programme:

British Values

From September 2014, The Department for Education introduced a statutory duty for schools to promote British Values more actively, and to ensure they are taught in schools.

At Carclaze Primary School we take very seriously our responsibility to prepare children for life in modern Britain. We value the ethnic backgrounds of all pupils and families and undertake a variety of events and lessons to celebrate and explore these alongside other cultures in our country.

We ensure that the fundamental British Values are introduced, discussed and lived out through the ethos and work of the school. All curriculum areas provide a vehicle for furthering understanding of these concepts. Our cross curricular approach provides excellent opportunities to deepen and develop understanding developing the spiritual, moral, social and cultural education of our children.

The school makes considerable efforts to ensure children have exposure to a wide experience beyond their local community for example whole school special events day.

At Carclaze, we value the voice of the child through an active school council. We expect all our children to be good role-models for each other, which is encouraged through high expectations of behaviour. We offer a Playtime Buddy scheme run by the Year 6 children where they teach Playground games and ensure children are happy at playtime.
